Day 26: Photo

Post a photo of your favorite place and tell us what you love about it.

BootsNAll is having a 30 day Indie Travel Project and here is my contribution for day 26.

My favorite place has to be the San Pedro market in Cusco, Peru. The walk to the market takes you over cobblestone streets through the heart of the city, passing the church archway that I loved walking through. Arriving at the market, its a frenzy of stalls of every shape, clothing shops, tailors, juice, meat, and fruit stalls.

This was my favorite vegetable stall. The woman and her daughter who run it were some of the friendliest people I know. I lived there for 6 months, so I’d always pick up my vegetables with them. They sold every vegetable I needed- and the only thing I couldn’t get were green onions, which I’d buy from the little old lady who had a set up on the other side of the aisle.

I loves stopping by when they’d be receiving produce- to see all the fresh, organic vegetables, beans and corn- it made me so happy to see them on market day. This photo was taken right before I left town. They were not there that day, and I was sad to not have gotten a chance to say goodbye. I know they will be there when I get back, waiting with smiling faces for me to tell them about my adventures.
