Friday Snapshot: Cairo, Egypt
While walking around in Tahrir Square, I came upon this street vendor selling an ingenious item: Sweet Potato. I’ve seen street vendors sell many things but this has to be one of the healthiest treats I’ve found on the street.
The sweet potatoes were being cooked on a portable, wooden stove and they smelled delicious. I’m sure he measured my waistline when I asked for a small potato- I ended up with a huge sweet treat with a side of sugar, salt and spices. I bit into it as I walked along Cairo’s main square, and I wondered why other countries don’t have sweet potato street food.
I’d even eat it fried. Still healthy, right?
What’s the healthiest street food you’ve ever eaten?
