My dream ski spots

I had the pleasure of skiing in Argentina a few years back and I still remember it quite vividly.

Yours truly in Argentina skiing at Valle Nevado

Even though I was born and raised in Miami, I quite fancied the snow from a young age as my mother was always taking me on ski trips. Now that I’m back in cold weather I’ve been having visions of skiing again and here I’m going to list my top dream ski destinations, in no particular order.

Zermatt, Switzerland

The best part about Zermatt is it’s sheer beauty. I visited a few years back, sadly not in ski season. I did however ride the highest cable car in the world. It was still beautiful to be there and Zermatt enjoys an incredibly long ski season. It would be a dream to go back.

Way high in the clouds!

Obergurgl, Austria

This is a good place for beginners and intermediates. It also happens to be one of the highest resorts in Austria and also has a long snow season. Over 100 km of runs insures you won’t be lacking any slopes for a while.

This looks gorgeous.

Mount Hermon, Syria & Lebanon

Skiing in the middle east? Why not? Mount Hermon is on the border between Lebanon and Syria. It enjoys snow almost all year long. The ski resort is actually in an area controlled by Israel. When the Syria area becomes a bit safer, I would love to ski there. Many bloggers have said Syria is their favorite place in the world.

Mount Hermon Resort

Val d’Isère, France

A part of some of the most amazing ski resorts in the world, this commune in south eastern France lies right on the border with Italy. The powder is supposed to be super fluffy. Apparently the slopes are not the easiest, but definitely worth a try right? Check out this night shot of the resort.

I might break a leg here, but what spectacular scenery to break it in!

Mount Hood, Oregon

Mount Hood is a stratavolcano located in northern Oregon, the state’s highest. Timberline Lodge is located on the south side of Mount Hood. One of it’s six ski areas, Timberline, is the only one to offer year round lift served skiing in North America! A good place to have a vacation at to escape the heat of Miami.

Mount Hood

What do you think about my spots, unusual? Any on your list as well? Where do you dream of going skiing?

Tip: If you’re looking for ski holidays to any of these fantastic destinations, I recommend checking the prices in the off season to try to get the best rates. Either way, skiing at any of these spots would be a dream vacation.

  • I’ve never skied before can you believe it? How fun to ski in Argentina!

You’ve never skied? I pictured you in a glamorous outfit on the slopes with your hair all perfect! Next time you’re in Argentina you should ski, estuvo buenisimo!

  • I’ve only ever done skiing/snowboarding in Europe, so skiing in Argentina and middle east sound so exotic! I definitely want to do that :) This year I’m heading to Val Thorens in France again, was hoping to do more skiing than just a week, but doesn’t look like that’s going to happen unfortunately, oh well.

Why not? Is there not a huge blast of cold weather that way? I have never snowboarded though. I have enough trouble staying upright on my skiis!

We went to Sun Valley in Idaho last year, it was a lot of fun. The sun valley cabin rental we stayed in was right by the slopes. :)
