On Location: Photo of the week-conch ceviche by the sea

May 1st, 2009: Roatan, Honduras

The waters of the island of Roatan were like something in a painting- deep colors of blue, which changed all the way to the lightest blue. The weather was perfect while we were there- hot and steamy, just what we needed to work on our tans (or should I say my tan, since Mike has a natural brown coloring!)

We spent our time zip-lining, eating at local spots, shopping at the supermarkets to pick up local hot sauces, and walking around telling ourselves that the time we’d get to spend here would be way to short and we would be back.

Conch ceviche & a local beersky!

The conch ceviche was delicious, washed down with several of the Salva Vida beers. Funny how the beers translate to ‘Life Savers’. Life saving beer! Although with that heat, the beers saved us from the heat stroke for sure. Or at least that’s what I told myself!

Have you been to Roatan? A picture perfect island for sure. If you’re headed to Honduras be sure to give it a visit.

I haven’t made it to Nica yet but it is on the list for the future! I miss cheap beer too. The beer that we prefer in SE Asia is not so cheap.

  • That looks so good; I just love ceviche, but then again I love any food that’s mostly just raw fish 😉

My boyfriend is crazy about anything raw as well. I tried the conch because we were there, and it was good. And I’ll eat ceviche and oysters. But sashimi….Not yet. I know it’s probably delicious, but I can’t do it!
