Short Term Vacation Rental- booking with Flipkey

We recently rented an apartment with Flipkey, which a Trip Advisor vacation rental company. Flipkey has  240,000 vacation homes located in over 11,000 cities throughout the world. So its pretty safe to say that you should definitely be able to find something for your vacation rental!

We used the Flipkey website to book our rental, and while I did find it somewhat frustrating to use in the beginning, I think that overall the site functions quite well.

After entering your destination, you have many options to choose from. Scroll through the listings by price or most popular, and also you can choose on the left hand side which amenities are important to you like internet, washing machine, ect. Read the reviews (if any) scroll through all the photos and read the description carefully.

You can either choose at this point to send the owner a message by clicking on the ‘send message’ button or I think a better option is to send an email because you can try to request a small discount on the rate, or you can ask any questions you might have before you actually make your booking.

Afterwards, paying with your card is simple and you’ll receive instructions right away with the address, the contact information for the owner, and how to get in touch so you can arrange your check in time and arrival.

Pretty easy! I’ve already been checking out listings for other locations and the prices are so reasonable.

What do you think about booking apartments with vacation rentals? Is this something you’d consider over staying in a hotel on your vacation or long term trip? Why or why not?
