Substitutions for cow’s milk

I absolutely love cow’s milk. Not sure why, but it’s just what I grew up with and what I was used to drinking. I now drink lactaid- free cow’s milk but I got love for other kinds of milk now too. If you are looking to sub out your milk, here are some options you can try.

Unsweetned Soy milk

-If you are allergic to Soy, you can try the milk below.

Unsweetened Almond milk

-Both of these Milks have a nutty flavor. They both also curdle when boiled.

Oat Milk

Barley Milk

-This is a good milk for cooking. It has a neutral flavor.

Hemp Milk

Hazlenut Milk

-Substitute this in your coffee instead of using creamer!

Substitute equally in recipes that call for regular  milk. All of the milks listed above are lactaid/lactose free! You can also purchase the milk in a variety of options: sweetened, vanilla or chocolate flavors.

Tried any other kind of milk that we missed? Please let us know in the comment box below.

  • I’ve been a big fan of almond milk for the last few years- although I like the sweetened chocolate variety best 😉

Ooo sweetened chocolate huh? I never drink chocolate milk but I bet it tastes wonderful.

  • Chris says:

I’ve tried quite a few of these, actually. Being lactose intolerant and wishing to keep a girlfriend – I had to compromise on flavor.

I’m quite a fan of soy milk (especially flavored) and didn’t mind the almond milk. Oat milk just tasted like the leavings at the bottom of a bowl of porridge/oatmeal. Blech!

Ahaha oh Chris. Gotta keep the ladies happy first, right? Yea I don’t really like the soy but I found hemp had a mild flavor.
